The Chaplain’s Journey
Reverend Chaplain Héctor Morales was born in Naranjito, Puerto
Rico. He holds a Master of Divinity from Northern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois, along with specialized
research studies in the fields of thanatology, loss, bereavement, and end-of-life issues.
With more than twenty-five years of professional experience,
Chaplain Morales has served in Military, Institutional, and Hospice
Chaplaincy. He was ordained in 1997 by the American Baptist Church
(ABC/USA), Great Rivers Region, and completed his Clinical
Pastoral Education Internship (14 Units) at Florida Hospital in 2000.
He is a Retired Minister from the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) in the U.S. and Canada.
Chaplain Morales lives in Orlando, Florida, with his wife Damaris.
They have two daughters, Naddia and Margie, and three
grandchildren: Natalia, Alexander, and Michelle.

emotions; behind the storm the rainbow, behind the darkness the light. It is a great feeling when someone takes us by the hand as we are walking in obscurity. That is precisely what Chaplain Morales manages to accomplish in his book 4. This book walks us through the path to take on the road of loss when we receive bad news, when our feelings of impotence overtake our emotions. This is a gift of significance when a box of chocolates and flowers are not enough and we wish to provide a ray of hope. That is the purpose of ekk, to extend a hand in exploring the spiritual comfort that will allow those in suffering to maintain the course when the frail ship is among the storm.
